We have two goals in our discussion.  The first is to participate in a webinar to be held at the end of January.  The second is to see if we can build some momentum in getting a best practice for a configuration of SIP end points.

Why are you focused on DIAMETER?

RFC 3588 is the protocol of choice for TISPAN and 3GPP.  In effect its the future.  While many people have legacy configuration tools using LDAP, RADIUS, etc. the decisions that were made then tend to drive the conversation.  Our first goal is to start with a clean sheet of paper where we can agree on a baseline of configuration information.  From there we can support further discussion.

Why the discussion of Technical Report 69

The Wireline and Wireless network have different workflows on configuration.  The wireless side uses SIMs to manage configuration and therefore have a different level of dialogue.  Note: while this is true there is normally a configuration of SIM card in advance of the initial connection.  The wireline side has activity going on in the DSL Forum that is documented in Technical Report 69.

How can I get involved?
